Senator Ned Nwoko has finally broken his silence following the circulation of a viral video showing him sitting beside a young lady, which many social media users hastily labelled as his “new wife.” The video, which quickly spread across platforms like TikTok and X (formerly Twitter), sparked waves of speculation and heated discussions online — especially in light of his reported marital issues with Nollywood actress Regina Daniels.
Addressing the rumours in a detailed public statement, the Delta North lawmaker strongly refuted the claims, describing them as “completely false, mischievous, and malicious.” He stated that there was no truth to the widespread assumption that he had taken another wife or was romantically involved with the woman featured in the clip.
According to Nwoko, the lady in question had visited him in the company of other delegates under the Peace Ambassadors Initiative, an organisation led by Ambassador Dr. Adejo Sule. He clarified that the group’s visit was purely official and aimed at discussing youth empowerment, peace-building, and regional development — not a private or personal meeting as widely speculated online.
He explained that photographs and videos captured during the courtesy visit were part of standard documentation, which is typical during such engagements. “It is both mischievous and malicious for anyone to exploit a simple, official interaction and turn it into a fabricated story of marriage or romantic involvement,” Nwoko stated. “Let me make it abundantly clear that I do not have any personal or private relationship with the lady in question. The video making rounds was from an entirely formal meeting.”
He further condemned the growing trend of misinformation and gossip-driven content in the digital space, emphasizing that public figures are often unfairly targeted for clicks and engagement. “The internet has become a breeding ground for falsehoods, and people should be cautious not to destroy reputations for temporary popularity,” he warned.
In addition, the senator urged bloggers, influencers, and online users to desist from spreading unverified information, reminding them that such actions could have serious legal consequences under Nigeria’s Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act of 2015.
