A tragic incident has thrown the Katsina metropolis into confusion after a Customs officer, identified as ASC Lawal Tukur, was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside a hotel room where he had lodged with three women. The unexpected death has since sparked a wave of concern and speculation among both residents and authorities.
According to detailed reports shared by security analyst Zagazola Makama on X, the disturbing event took place on October 15, 2025, at the popular Murjani Hotel located within the city of Katsina. The officer, who was said to have checked in a day earlier, reportedly spent the night in the company of three women before his untimely demise was discovered by hotel staff the following morning.

Eyewitnesses within the hotel premises revealed that the deceased had failed to check out at the normal time, prompting the management to send one of the attendants to knock on his door around 8:30 a.m. Upon receiving no response, the hotel staff used a spare key to open the room—only to find the officer lying lifeless on the bed.
The management immediately alerted the police, who swiftly arrived at the scene to commence preliminary investigations. Early findings revealed that the deceased officer had been in the company of three women identified as Khadija Ali (34), a resident of Dutsin Amare Quarters in Katsina; Aisha Lawal (30), from Ingawa Local Government Area; and Hafsat Yusuf (22), from Brigade Quarters in Kano State.
Sources stated that Khadija and Aisha had reportedly spent the night with the Customs officer, while Hafsat visited them later in the evening and also secured a separate room in the same hotel. However, what transpired afterward remains unclear, as no one could confirm the sequence of events leading to the officer’s death.
During a thorough search of the hotel room, investigators allegedly recovered several empty sachets of suspected substances from the waste bin, raising suspicions that the officer may have consumed something harmful before his passing. The items were collected as evidence for forensic analysis.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported that the deceased’s body was later conveyed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Katsina, where a medical practitioner on duty confirmed him dead on arrival. The body has since been deposited in the hospital mortuary for an autopsy to determine the actual cause of death.
Meanwhile, the three women linked to the incident have reportedly been detained by the police for questioning, as investigations continue into the strange circumstances surrounding the Customs officer’s death. Authorities have vowed to conduct a full probe to uncover whether foul play, poisoning, or any other criminal activity was involved.
This tragic development has left many within the Customs community and the general public in shock, with several calling for a transparent investigation to ensure justice and prevent similar occurrences in the future.
