Catholic priest calls Ned and Regina’s union a contract, not a marriage

Catholic priest, Fr Kelvin Ugwu, has made bold claims about the high-profile union between billionaire politician Ned Nwoko and Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, asserting that their relationship is largely driven by greed rather than genuine affection or marital commitment.

In a detailed social media post, Fr Ugwu argued that both parties should not express dissatisfaction with their so-called marriage because each got precisely what they sought from the beginning. According to him, Ned and Regina entered into their union with clear objectives, and both achieved their respective goals through the relationship.

Union Based on Mutual Interests, Not Love

Fr Ugwu highlighted that Ned was seeking a virgin bride, while Regina was pursuing wealth and luxury. He emphasized that the union functioned more as a contractual agreement than a traditional marriage based on love and mutual respect.

The priest’s post reads in part, “Ned is obsessed with virginity. Gina is obsessed with wealth. In an interview with Seun of Channels, Ned revealed that he cannot marry someone who is not a virgin, as a non-virgin is a turn-off to his so-called ‘royal’ blood. On the other hand, in a social media video, Gina hinted that she would rather cry in a Lamborghini than accept a modest lifestyle. A keke broke driver has no chance with her ‘sexy’ body.”

Fr Ugwu continued, explaining the dynamics of their pairing: “Fortunately, or perhaps providentially, Ned met Gina, and Gina met Ned. Ned has the wealth that Gina desires, and Gina has the virginity that Ned desires. The requirements on both sides were fully met. Their hotspots and Bluetooth were compatible for pairing. They paired. Transfers were made. Results were visible: Ned appeared fulfilled and proud to show the offspring from his ‘virginic’ exploration. Gina, in turn, was happy and proud to flaunt her wealth, including dollars, Ferrari, and G-Wagon, from her ‘ancestral’ exploration.”

The priest stressed that given their motivations, neither party should complain about the state of the relationship: “Ordinarily, none of them ought to complain. Their ‘wants’ were fully satisfied. What they ordered was exactly what they received.”

Mislabeling the Union as Marriage

Fr Ugwu added a critical observation about how the couple defines their relationship: “But, and this is a very big BUT, both of them have Okpolo eyes (the eyes of a frog). They want to eat their cake and have it too. The core problem between Ned and Gina is that they have defined what they shared using the wrong term. They used the word ‘Marriage’ to describe their union, but by any critical standard, what they have does not meet the requirements of a true marriage. Marriage, if it could speak, would have sued them for abuse.”

He concluded, “What Gina and Ned had or still have is not marriage. It only resembles it, but resemblance alone does not make it genuine marriage.”

Public Reaction and Debate

Fr Ugwu’s remarks have sparked widespread discussion on social media. Some users agree with his perspective, suggesting that the union is transactional and emblematic of modern celebrity marriages driven by material and personal interests. Others criticized him for publicly commenting on the private lives of the couple, arguing that such statements may be intrusive or disrespectful.

Despite the controversy, the priest’s post has reignited debates about what constitutes a legitimate marriage versus a relationship driven by personal gain, prompting users to reflect on societal values and the influence of wealth and status in romantic relationships.
