A young woman has gone viral after sharing her emotional life story, revealing how she got married at 18 and became a single mother of four children in her 30s. The revelation has since sparked widespread debate on social media about early marriage, gender roles, and responsibility in relationships.
In a heart-wrenching video circulating online, the woman recounted how she tied the knot with her first love at a tender age, full of dreams and hope for a lasting future. However, those dreams were shattered after twelve long years of marriage that left her emotionally and financially drained.
She disclosed that throughout her 12-year marriage, her husband—now her ex—only gave her a total of ₦50,000 to support their family. According to her, she bore the burden of raising their four children almost entirely on her own, without receiving consistent help or affection from her partner.
‘He abandoned the children after the divorce’
The woman further revealed that after their marriage collapsed, her ex-husband completely abandoned their children, showing no interest in their welfare or education. Despite being separated for years, she said the man has never visited or contributed to their upkeep.
She narrated that her first child, who is currently in her 300 level at university, has grown up without any paternal care, emotional support, or even acknowledgment from her father. The other three children, she added, have also suffered the same fate, forcing her to play both parental roles since the divorce.

Visibly emotional, the woman said she decided to share her story not for sympathy, but to raise awareness about the dangers of rushing into marriage without proper understanding, emotional maturity, or financial stability. She noted that getting married too young left her with limited options and forced her to grow up quickly under pressure.
Mixed reactions from social media users
The emotional story sparked a heated discussion online, as many users sympathized with her while others questioned her narrative and the absence of the husband’s side of the story.
A user identified as 5ive commented: “Obviously her parents got a cheap bargain for her at 18, and that’s why she only got ₦50k in 12 years. People use more than that to toast girls these days.”
Icez added: “This doesn’t concern me until I hear the man’s side. I don’t believe anything that comes from this gender anymore.”
Samuel questioned: “Everyone is saying ‘hmmm,’ but no one is asking what happened — is the man alive, where is he, and why did he leave?”
Emmanuel Ajoku stated: “We need to hear from the man. There are always two sides to every story.”
5thgod Armani also weighed in: “Who allowed her to marry at 18? What drove the marriage, and where were the counsellors or elders when it happened?”
Others expressed concern about the lack of awareness and guidance for young women entering marriage too early, saying her story should be a lesson for families and religious institutions to promote proper counselling and education before marriage.
As of now, the video continues to trend, stirring conversations on X (formerly Twitter), TikTok, and Instagram, where users are debating whether her husband’s neglect reflects a larger societal issue or a personal story gone wrong.
